Biography
Dr. Amanda Quist (uh-MAN-duh kwist)
Dr. Amanda Quist is the director of choral activities for Western Michigan University’s Irving S. Gilmore School of Music. Quist recently served as guest conductor for Grammy-nominated professional choir Seraphic Fire. She has served as chorus master for the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Dresden Staatskapelle, New York Philharmonic, and Spoleto Festival. Quist was previously chair and associate professor of conducting at Westminster Choir College, where her ensemble, Kantorei, won the 2019 American Prize for Choral Performance, and she earned the Distinguished Teaching. Quist served as director of choral activities for the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, and San José State University. This summer, Dr. Quist will lead the Choral Conducting Institute at Interlochen, and serve as conductor for the Adult Choir Camp. The WMU Chorale will make their Carnegie Hall debut under Quist’s direction in June, 2025.
